Why ChildCry?
In 2004 I traveled with a team of over two-hundred people from Times Square Church to Zambia where we held evangelistic and humanitarian outreaches. Out of ten million people in Zambia, 700,000 are children living in the streets. It was heartbreaking to see two-year-olds in the street being cared for by ten-year-olds, without parents, without guardians, without any sustenance.
I came back from one of these outreaches and I just cried out to God, “God, how can we help? We realize the need is so big, we can’t do everything, but God how can we help?”
ChildCry was born out of this cry of the heart in response to the cry we saw in these children’s eyes. It is a burden that God has given to this church.
We’ve cast our bread on the waters, as the scripture says, and we’ve asked the Lord to feed a million children. I don’t think that’s a stretch, I think that’s a completely attainable goal. We’ve simply said, “Lord, you’ve got to take this.”
We are believing that He will. Through all of us.
