The term orphan traditionally refers to a child who has lost both of their parents. However, this is not always the case for the children living in the orphanage we support in Myanmar. While many are truly orphans, there are also children placed here simply because their parents are too poor to provide the needed care and resources necessary for survival. Thankfully, donations made by ChildCry are able to cover the daily essentials for these children allowing them access to experience the same opportunities and benefits as children living outside of the orphanage.
ChildCry also supports a very unique ministry to the young Buddhist monks living in Myanmar. These young boys are given Boxes of Love which includes food, as well as literature and personal hygiene items. Many times, the people who give these boxes to the children have to explain that the bars of soap are not food. In desperation to satisfy their hunger, they will eat almost anything to provide relief from the intense pains. When the young monks are given these boxes, they clutch onto them with a deep sense of pride and appreciation. Inside the boxes they find not only gifts of nourishment for the physical body, but much needed spiritual nourishment as well. Many times a child will forego the treats they have missed for so long, just to sit and read the Bible. They thirst for this knowledge and for the love they have never seen before that only comes from Jesus Christ.
ChildCry demonstrates the love of Christ by providing food to the Burmese orphans and young Buddhist monks. |
